Publication of our recent research on aluminium and autism has prompted myriad questions not least of which being ‘what next?’ Before attempting an answer, it is important to re-visit the conclusions of the research, specifically a potentially causal link between aluminium in brain tissue and autism. Aluminium in brain tissue is an inevitable consequence of living in the Aluminium Age and aluminium found in the brains of donors with autism will have come from a variety of sources including, vaccination.
The observation of a significant association of aluminium with pro-inflammatory cells is currently unique to autism. The suggestion that cells loaded with aluminium entered the brain via the meninges and the blood-brain-barrier presented a mechanism for the enhanced uptake of aluminium from the body to the brain.

The research offers the hypothesis that the recruitment of pro-inflammatory cells from the body to the brain is more potent in individuals with autism. Herein lies the possible problem of vaccines that include aluminium adjuvants.
So, where next? I advocate that we should all be protecting ourselves from the possible toxicity of aluminium by regular drinking of a silicon-rich mineral water. Any mineral water where the stated content of ‘silica’ is above 30 ppm (mg/L) will be effective in helping to remove aluminium from the body. Individuals should try to drink up to 1.0L each day, every day. Make it part of everyday life. (Fact Sheet available upon request). (Please note that I have refused the generous offer made by Silica Waters (suppliers of Acilis) of regular donations to Keele to fund research to preclude any suggestion of a conflict of interests.)
Ideally, we want to test the benefits of silicon-rich mineral water therapy in clinical trials including looking to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and to help individuals with autism. Unfortunately, funding for such trials is unlikely to be forthcoming and so in the meantime I simply want as many people as possible to be active in protecting themselves and their families. To this end, I am pleased to hear of a number of support groups that have been set up with this objective in mind (see; https://www.facebook.com/groups/2053222944967471/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/1354176014705131/.)
Anecdotal evidence of the benefits of silicon-rich mineral water is encouraging. Perhaps one day those charged with supporting medical research will fund the aforementioned clinical trials but in the meantime, let the anecdote be the antidote!
