Diary of Covid-19 (Part III)

Now my immune system seems to have finally caught up with the idea that I have a nasty viral infection, I just want to sleep. Yesterday, I think I slept for about 18 hours. Somehow, the children did get some work done, thanks to the help of a wonderful teacher friend who kept order via FaceTime. I felt the virus crackle into my sinuses and I’m now feeling more congested. The cough actually feels like it is achieving something now.

Everyone else is in lockdown now too so we now feel less alone. The good news is that not many people in this area of Hampshire actually have the bug and I hear there are still ventilators available in the local hospital – not that I want one!

The two oldies in our family also seem quite jolly and upbeat on the phone. Thank goodness they are isolated. I do worry that this virus requires stamina. If you do get symptoms, they are persistent and come in waves over many days.  My brain fog has lifted somewhat and I’m not feeling so nauseous.

I’m really hoping that this is going to be the turning point for me. Around now, you either get better or head into more difficult terrain with deeper lung involvement. I’m more congested now but my breathing is easier and no tell-tale crackles of pneumonia.

My daughter Imogen has been having her singing lessons over the Internet. Yesterday, a highlight was the sound of her singing Over the Rainbow drifting upstairs to me in my bed.

Thank goodness for the world wide web.
