Online trials map for coloproctology

The European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) has launched an intuitive online Trials Map, where medical and surgical trials from across the world will be hosted and available to practitioners.

The Trials Map is aimed at encouraging participation in and the sharing of trials relating to coloproctology. In having some of the most innovative trials hosted in one place, ESCP aims to inspire best practice through collaborative working.

Trials span a number of stages of care from into pre-diagnosis to post-op.

Professor Peter Christensen, of the ESCP Research Committee, said: “We are excited and inspired by the launch of the trials map on the ESCP website. The vast collection of trials we are hosting demonstrates the strength and innovation happening in the specialism.

“Already there’s a large range of diverse trials from across the world available to explore and participate in. We’re confident that by providing a central hub for new and existing trials, we’ll encourage the sharing and exploring of best practices, helping to advance our specialism even further.”

The announcement comes ahead of the European Society of Coloproctology’s Annual Conference taking place on 20 and 21 September in Berlin. It is regarded as the most influential gathering of global experts in coloproctology.

The Annual Conference has attracted high profile speakers including Helmut Messmann from Germany who will cover the management of early colorectal cancer, Brendan Moran from the UK who will look at how to handle a malignant appendix and Soeren Laurberg from Denmark who will address LARS – from bedside to bench and back.
