John Lumley is Emeritus Professor of Vascular Surgery, and former Consultant Surgeon to Barts, the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases and Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. Other former positions include World President of the International College of Surgeons and Council Member of the Royal College of Surgeons. His extensive writings are mainly on matters medical, but he has written two books on art (a lifelong hobby), skiing (to help other where he failed) and Conducting (he has conducted the Barts Academic Festival Choir and Orchestra for approaching a half century). His latest campaign is the U4U Project, to teach old people to look after themselves and each other.
